Tsutomu Ochiai
This restaurant's owner-chef currently serves as the honorary president of the Japan–Italy Restaurant Association. Having moved to Italy in 1978, he played a leading role in introducing Italian home cooking to Japan. In 1997, he opened LA BETTOLA da Ochiai, which became a cultural phenomenon. In 2020, he received the Japanese government's "Contemporary Master Craftsman" award and Medal with Yellow Ribbon, living up to his name as one of Japan's leading chefs. His amiable personality and commitment to making each dish with love have endeared him to young and old alike.
