9 Shimbashi Tamura-cho SHINSHODOH
- Traditional Japanese Sweets
We are Shimbashi Tamura-cho SHINSHODOH, a traditional Japanese confectionery located in Tamura-cho, Shimbashi—right on the site where Lord Asano Takumi no Kami, known from the story of the Chushingura, committed seppuku over 300 years ago.
Inspired by this historic moment, we created our signature sweet: the “Seppuku Monaka.”
Much like kabuki, film, and theater, this unique treat carries on the legacy of Chushingura, complete with a charming story and a satisfying bite.
Lovingly handcrafted at our in-house workshop in Shimbashi, each piece of this wagashi is made with care by skilled artisans.
We invite you to enjoy the taste—and the tale—that has captured the hearts of the Japanese for generations.
